Diverse Wilderness
With its incredible range of precipitation and elevation, diversity is the hallmark of Olympic National Park. Encompassing nearly a million acres, the park protects a vast wilderness, thousands of years of human history, and several distinctly different ecosystems, including glacier-capped mountains, old-growth temperate rainforests, and over 70 miles of wild coastline.
Mosses
Olympic National Park is home to a rich diversity of mosses, thriving in its lush temperate rainforests. Among the hundreds of species found here, some of the most notable include stair-step moss, cattail moss, spike mosses, and club mosses. These mosses form dense, green carpets on forest floors, tree trunks, and even fenceposts, creating miniature ecosystems.
Waterfalls
Olympic National Park boasts several stunning waterfalls, ranging from easily accessible roadside views to longer hikes through old-growth forests
Hiking
