Where the Earth Buckles

Capitol Reef National Park is a striking desert park in south-central Utah known for its dramatic red rock cliffs, domes, and deep canyons. The park preserves the Waterpocket Fold, a nearly 100-mile-long geologic wrinkle in the Earth’s crust that creates its unique landscape. Visitors can explore scenic drives, narrow slot canyons, and historic orchards in the Fruita district, where fruit trees planted by early settlers are still maintained today.
